Erik Valind is a Communicator…A Freelance Photographer – Author – Educator. Born and raised on the Florida beaches, he is now based in the heart of New York City. Breaking free of the confines of the studio he specializes in on-location commercial lifestyle photography and environmental portraiture. Inspired by the form, activity and diversity of people; airy and energetic imagery defines the style and vision of this full-time pro photographer.
Erik has lent his expertise to shape the public image of numerous personas and national brands. Erik is also well known within the photo community for openly sharing his visual approach, techniques and passion for photography as a speaker at international photo conferences; online as a KelbyOne and CreativeLIVE instructor; as well as literately having written the books on Portrait Photography and Shooting in Sh*tty Light, which can be found on bookshelves across the country. He has been singled out as a Top Pro Photographer by companies like Westcott, Tamron Lenses, Broncolor, and California Sunbounce for his work photographic work and motivation to inspire and educate other photographers.
Between shoots he can found teaching workshops and seminars across empowering other photographers to overcome adverse lighting conditions, to conquer off camera lighting, and to get the absolute best from their subjects.
